Ross extends her reached base safely streak to 12 games
RALEIGH, N.C. – The NC State softball team dropped a hard-fought extra inning game against the Elon Phoenix Wednesday evening at Dail Stadium, 4-2. The teams were tied at two after seven innings and Elon was able to plate two runs in the eighth to claim the victory.

The Wolfpack falls to 17-21 on the season, while the Phoenix improves to 20-15.

The Rundown
- NC State struck first in the contest with a run in the first inning thanks to an RBI single by Meredith Burroughs.
- Tyler Ross walked to lead off the frame and advanced to third base on a single by Molly Hutchison.
- Burroughs dropped a single into right center, which allowed Ross to score from third base to give the Wolfpack a 1-0 lead.
- Elon knotted the score in the top of the fourth after a solo home run by Hannah Olson.
- The Wolfpack answered in the bottom of the frame with a run after Macauley Prickett drew a walk with the bases loaded to plate Cheyenne Balzer.
- Hannah Olson helped the Phoenix countered in its next at-bat, as she hit a solo home run over the left field fence to tie the score, 2-2.
- A passed ball and a wild pitch allowed Elon to score a pair of runs in the top of the eighth to take a 4-2 lead and NC State was not able to counter in the bottom of the inning.
