Jacob McBride Ties for Second at 2016 ACC Championship

NEW LONDON, N.C. – Led by a fantastic final round of 66 (-6) from Jacob McBride en route to his second-place finish, the NC State men's golf team bested two top-25 programs by finishing seventh in the field of 12 teams at the 2016 Atlantic Coast Conference Championship.
Sitting seventh heading into Sunday's final round of play, the Wolfpack shot a 292 (+4) during its final pass through the Old North State Club to finish with a three-round total score of 869 (+5). NC State finished ahead of No. 25 North Carolina and No. 24 Virginia by one stroke and also defeated Notre Dame, Virginia Tech, and Boston College.
No. 12 Clemson earned the 2016 team title, carding a score of 839 (-25). No. 11 Wake Forest took second place with an 850 (-14). Louisville's Robin Sciot-Siegrist took top individual honors with a 206 (-10), defeating McBride and Duke's Jake Shuman by just one stroke.

McBride's runner-up result marks the best individual finish by a Wolfpack golfer at the ACC Championship since Matt Hill tied for first in 2009 and the best individual finish of his career in terms of both place (T2) and total score (207). NC State's team finish of seventh place marks the best result since the squad placed sixth in 2011.

GREAT RESPONSE
After recording a bogey on the first hole of Sunday's round, McBride bounced back with birdies on four of the next five holes. Following the first hole, the junior finished his round with seven birdies and 10 pars.
