Â
NC State and Boston College last met in 2014 when the Eagles visited Raleigh, with the Pack earning a 6-1 victory in that contest. NCSU leads the all-time series with BC, 21-7.
Â
Weekend Promotions
Former players and coaches of the NC State softball program will be recognized at Saturday's games. Sunday, NC State softball mini batting helmets will be available while supplies last. In addition, children 12 & under will have a chance to run the bases following Sunday's game.
Â
Last Time Out
NC State earned a 15-6 run-rule victory at UNCG in its last outing. It was the most runs the Wolfpack has scored in a game this season.
Â
Boston College dropped a 4-2 decision at UMASS in its most recent game on Thursday.
Â
Rychcik Reaches Career Milestone
With NC State's win in game one of the doubleheader last weekend at Syracuse, fourth-year head coach Shawn Rychcik earned his 400th career win. Now in his 12th season overall as a head coach, the Salamanca, N.Y., native owns a 401-245-2 career record.
Â
Gimme Six
NC State has compiled a record of 16-5 when scoring at least six runs in a contest. In comparison, the Wolfpack has just five wins when plating five runs or fewer.
Â
Lucky Number Two
The Wolfpack has hit two or more home runs on 16 occasions this season and has won 13 of those contests.
Â
In addition, NC State has also scored 43 runs in the second inning – the most it has scored in any frame this season.
Â
Crucial Third Inning
When leading at the conclusion of the third inning, NC State owns a 15-5 mark.
Â
What a Difference a Year Makes
Several NC State players have made a noticeable jump in their batting statistics from last season to this year. In 57 games in 2015, Meredith Burroughs had 34 hits and nine home runs in 157 at-bats. This year, she has surpassed her hit total from 2015 with 40 hits and has topped her nine home runs from a year ago with 10 homers through 47 games.
Â
Tyler Ross collected 58 hits, seven doubles, hit 14 home runs, scored 43 runs and had 55 RBI in 2015. This season, the junior has 53 hits, eight doubles, 14 home runs, 43 RBI and 46 runs scored through 47 games with nine additional contests remaining on the Wolfpack's schedule.
Â
Ross Approaching 100 Career Runs Scored
Ross enters the weekend just one run shy of scoring the 100th run of her Wolfpack career. She would become only the fifth player in program history to reach 100 runs scored in a career.
Â
Additionally, she has crossed home plate a career-best 46 times this season and is just seven runs shy of setting the single-season record for most runs scored.
