NEW LONDON, N.C. – The NC State men's golf team completed the first day of action at the 2016 Atlantic Coast Conference Championship on Friday. Through one round of play at Old North State Club, the Wolfpack is in eighth place among 12 teams with a combined score of 290 (+2).
No. 12 Clemson currently leads the tournament field, having shot a team score of 273 (-15) during the first round. In second is No. 11 Wake Forest at 277 (-11). NC State is a mere three strokes out of a tie for third place with No. 20 Duke, No. 24 Virginia, Georgia Tech, and Louisville. The Wolfpack currently sits five strokes ahead of No. 25 UNC-Chapel Hill.
Jacob McBride led the way for the Wolfpack on the first day of action, shooting a 70 (-2). The junior recorded four birdies, 12 pars, and just two bogies during his first time through the course at Old North State Club.

All five NC State golfers got off to a very fast start on Friday morning, combining for four birdies through the first three holes.
COOKE'S PAR FIVES
Senior David Cooke carded an eagle for the second straight tournament, holing out in three strokes on the par-five 11th hole. He leads all golfers in the field with an average score of 4.25 strokes on par fives.
SATURDAY TEE TIMES
NC State golfers will be paired with competitors from UNC-Chapel Hill and Louisville on Saturday. The pairings will tee off between 9:30 – 10:10 a.m.
