
Wolfpack in Fifth at Palmetto Invite

AIKEN, S.C. – Led by a strong individual performance from freshman Stephen Franken, the NC State men's golf team completed the first day of action at the 2016 Palmetto Invite in fifth place among 18 teams.
After carding a 69 (-1) during his first time through the course at the Palmetto Golf Club, Franken began the second with four birdies on the first five holes of the back nine. He would end the second round with another score of 69 (-1) to end the day at 138 (-2) and just four strokes off the lead.
With one round to play on Tuesday, the Wolfpack is just four strokes out of a third-place tie with Augusta. No. 22 South Carolina leads the field with a two-round score of 542 (-18).

Carter Page and Nolan Mills Jr. each recorded one eagle on Monday. Page earned his on the 14th hole (550-yard par five) in the first round while Mills earned his on the 18th hole (306-yard par four), also in the first round.
BEST AT PAR THREES
Par threes proved difficult at Palmetto Golf Club on Monday, yet NC State accumulated the best team score on these holes. Wolfpack golfers ended the day +5 on par threes, averaging 3.13 strokes per hole. Akron and Wofford tied for second with average scores of 3.18 on par threes.
FINAL ROUND
Tuesday's final round begins with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m.
