RALEIGH – Maverick Rowan banked in a lay-up with 1.1 seconds remaining in the game and the NC State men's basketball team rallied past Boston College 73-72 on Wednesday Night. The win in the season's final home game made it four wins in the last five home contests for the Pack.
Key Stats:
Anthony 'Cat' Barber led the way for NC State, scoring 24 points while adding six rebounds and six assists. Rowan and Caleb Martin both added 13 points, while Abdul-Malik Abu recorded 12 points and seven rebounds. As a team, the Pack shot 8-for-17 from 3-point range. Caleb Martin shot 4-for-6 from long range and Rowan hit three 3-pointers.
The Wolfpack shot .538 in the second half, including 7-for-13 shooting from 3-point range.

Block Party:
BeeJay Anya surpassed Thurl Bailey for the school record in blocks, collecting his 208th career blocked shot at the 12:53 mark in the second half. Anya added four points - all on putbacks - and pulled down eight rebounds on the night.
At The Buzzer:
Rowan's bucket was the second buzzer beater for NC State this season. Barber made a 3-pointer at the buzzer in the Pack's win over High Point back on Dec. 16.
Turning Point:
The Wolfpack trailed for most of the second half, but clawed its way back into the game. A 9-0 run gave NC State a two-point lead with 2:24 remaining in the contest. From there, both teams traded buckets until the closing seconds.
Bostn College added a free throw to take one-point lead with 14 seconds left in the contest. The Pack missed a pair of 3-pointers but held possession, as a loose rebound bounced out of bounds off a BC player.
With 1.1 seconds to go, Rowan rolled around a screen in the paint and deposited a wide-open layup for the win.
Gott Said It:
"Obviously we are really excited to get the win. We didn't play great tonight but Boston College played really well. They've got two guys back who haven't played in a while. They had a full roster and a little pep in their step having those guys back in there. They played great and we did not play well. We had too many mistakes on both ends, turnovers, blocking out on free throws… all those things. And those things add up but one thing about our team that I have liked this year is that regardless of our record is that our players have competed and played hard and tried their hardest every night. We got down 13 in the first half and they came back. We got down 7 late in the game and they came back. Maverick and Caleb made two huge '3s' for our team. And on the last play, Maverick made a great cut. We wanted Cat and Maverick involved coming off the two screens at the elbow. The quiet hero is Caleb, he had poise and wasn't in a hurry inbounding the ball. Then he made the right pass, Maverick got open and we were very fortunate. But we don't end up with a chance at 1.1 seconds if you quit and lay down. Our guys never quit and they haven't all year long. They've kept competing and gave us a chance on nights where we didn't play really good. Proud of our guys for that, but obviously we have got to play better. But really excited for that last play."
