
No. 27 Wolfpack Falls to No. 42 Georgia Tech, 5-2

RALEIGH, N.C. – The 27th-ranked NC State men's tennis dropped a tough, 5-2 decision to Georgia Tech Sunday afternoon at the J.W. Isenhour Tennis Center. The loss moves the Wolfpack to 11-8 (1-2 ACC) on the season, while the Yellow Jackets improve to 10-4 (3-1 ACC).
Match Recap:
Georgia Tech took an early lead, claiming the doubles point with wins on court one and two. GT clinched the point on court two, as the No. 65 duo of Michael Kay and Casey Kay narrowly won in the tiebreak, 7-6 (7-4).
In singles play, the Pack and Yellow Jackets split each first set. NC State won on courts one, three and four, while GT took the opening set on courts two, five and six.
Thomas Weigel added a big point for the Pack to pull the match level with a 6-3, 7-5 victory on court one. The win is Weigel's seventh in a row and 16th of the dual season, both of which are team highs. Weigel also won his doubles match to earn his 11th doubles win this season.
Shortly after Weigel tied the match, Georgia Tech pulled away, winning the second sets on courts two and six to take commanding 3-1 lead. NC State led on two of the final three courts, but, was unable to hold off the Yellow Jackets.
Daniel Yun earned a, 6-4, 3-6, 6-2 victory on court five to clinch the overall match.
With the result tied up, No. 15 Christopher Eubanks edged No. 73 Simon Norenius in the final set for GT's fifth point. In the final match, Ivan ended a two-match winless streak defeating Cole Feigel, 2-6, 6-2, 6-4 on court four.

The Pack faces a tough test over the weekend with a pair of top-five opponents. NC State will face No. 4 Virginia in Charlottesville, Va., Friday at 3 p.m. and then host No. 1 North Carolina Sunday at 1 p.m. at J.W. Isenhour Tennis Center.
