NC State Takes Two Of Three Conference Weekly Honors

The Wolfpack picks up its fourth-straight weekly honor
BALTIMORE- The NC State gymnastics team took two of this week's three conference weekly honors Tuesday morning, as Brittni Watkins was named EAGL Gymnast of the Week and Michaela Woodford earned EAGL Specialist of the Week, as announced by the league office.

For Watkins and Woodford, this marks their first mention of the season. Watkins now holds eight weekly honors in her career, while Woodford holds three in hers.

As a team, this is the fourth-straight week that a gymnast as picked up a weekly honor.

The team collected its fourth-straight win of the season on Feb. 26, knocking off former No. 20 George Washington with a season-high score of 195.925. The Colonials earned a score of 195.350, while host Towson posted a 194.550 and William and Mary rounded out the quad meet with a 192.975.

Watkins notched three wins on her outing, matching her career-best scores on floor (9.925) as an all-arounder (39.525) and notching a 9.900 on vault. She additionally finished second on beam with a 9.850 and matched that score on bars to tie for sixth place.

Woodford tabbed scores of 9.800 or better on bars, beam and floor and earned top-10 finishes in all three events. She tied for second on bars with a 9.875, tied for third on beam with a 9.850 and tied for eighth on floor with a 9.800.

Holding a 13-2 record on the season, the Wolfpack will return to action March 4 when it faces George Washington again for a dual meet. The competition is set for a 7 p.m. start inside the Charles E. Smith Center.Â
