Gymnastics Comes Out Victorious With Season-High 194.9 In Quad Meet

CHAPEL HILL, N.C.- The NC State gymnastics team posted a season-high score of 194.900 to come out victorious in its quad meet at Chapel Hill, N.C., Saturday afternoon inside Koury Natatorium.
Bowling Green finished second with a total of 194.800, host and EAGL conference rival UNC-CH finished third with a mark of 193.400 and conference foe Pittsburgh rounded out the competition with a 193.350.
Capitalizing on its day, the Wolfpack recorded eight top-five finishes and six career-high individual performances, as well as a season-high team score on floor.

Floor ExerciseÂ
The Wolfpack started off on floor Saturday afternoon, as the team carded a season-best score of 49.050 as well as five career-high individual marks. Watkins led the Pack with a 9.900 to win the event, which ties her career-best on the rotation.Â
NC State's second-highest scorer was Caitlyn Fillard as she recorded a career-high 9.825 to finish sixth. Additionally Alexa Phillips posted a 9.800 in her career debut on the rotation, Chelsea Knight earned a career-high mark of 9.775 and Paris Phillips tied her career best with a 9.750.
Vault
Watkins was the top scorer again for the Pack on vault, as she posted a 9.825 to earn her second win on the day. Behind Watkins was Knight with a mark of 9.800, which put her in a tie for second place in the overall standings.Â
Additionally, Caitlyn Fillard earned a mark of 9.725 while Alexa and Paris Phillips each carded a 9.700 to round out the top five scores for the team on the event.
As a team, NC State tabbed a score of 48.750.
Uneven Bars
Amanda Fillard and Watkins turned in the team's highest scores on bars, as each tabbed a mark of 9.800 to tie for fourth in the overall standings. Chelsea Knight additionally posted a score of 9.775 to finish seventh. As a team, the Wolfpack earned a total of 48.450 on its third rotation of the day.Â
Balance BeamÂ
On its last rotation of the day, NC State recorded a team score of 48.650 on beam. Amanda Fillard highlighted the event for the team with a career-high score of 9.825 to tie for first place.Â
Nicole Wild tabbed a score of 9.800 to tie for third, while Caitlyn Fillard posted a mark of 9.700 to earn the third-highest score for the Pack on the rotation.Â

All-Around Competition
Watkins earned a second-place finish in the all-around competition with a mark of 39.175, while Knight posted a score of 38.375 to finish seventh in the standings.

NC State will return to action Feb. 12 when it travels to Chapel Hill again to face host UNC-CH and William and Mary in a tri-meet. The meet is set for a 7 p.m. start inside Carmichael Arena.
