Wolfpack hits a couple of homers on the day
CATHEDRAL CITY, Calif. – The NC State softball team dropped a pair of contests against top-25 opponents on the first day of competition at the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic. The Wolfpack fell to No. 17 Missouri, 17-2, and dropped a battle with top-ranked Florida, 5-2.
NC State falls to 5-6 on the year, Missouri moves to 7-0 and Florida also remains unbeaten at 13-0.
Quick Hits (Versus Missouri)
- Missouri took an early lead in the contest, as the Tigers became the first team to score a run in the first inning against NC State this season.
- The squad plated a pair of runs in the first to take a 2-0 lead.
- Sophomore Meredith Burroughs cut the Wolfpack deficit in half with a solo home run to deep center field. It was her fourth round-tripper of the season.
- Missouri used a big second inning to take control of the game and went on to win it, 17-2.
- Tyler Ross added a solo homer in the fourth inning, her fifth of the season.
