The NC State women's golf team is shaking the rare snow seen in Raleigh this week for tropical Puerto Rico. The Wolfpack is playing in the Lady Puerto Rico Classic for the ninth time and sixth year in a row.
Thirteen of the GolfWeek poll's top 50 teams will be at Rio Mar Country Club this week, including the 27th-ranked Wolfpack. Senior Rachael Taylor was NC State's leading scorer last year and she is back in the lineup after playing in two fall tournaments. Laura Kowohl, a freshman from Germany, averaged 73.83 in two fall tournaments and will start along with Naomi Ko (75.11 in the fall), Leonie Bettel (75.11) and Sarah Bae (75.58).
The Wolfpack finished its fall season on an extremely high note, shooting a school-record 279 as a team in the final round at the Landfall Tradition in Wilmington.Â
"The sky's the limit," head coach Page Marsh said.
Following the tournament in Puerto Rico, NC State will play in the Lady Gator Invitational at Florida March 5-6.
