Ashley Williams Earns CoSIDA Academic All-District Honors

RALEIGH – Junior guard Ashley Williams of the NC State women's basketball team has been selected as a CoSIDA Academic All-District Team member, the College Sports Information Directors of America announced Thursday afternoon.

A native of nearby Cary, N.C., Williams is excelling as an Industrial Engineering major at NC State with an impressive career GPA of 3.92. Williams has completed five semesters to this point in her academic career and has made the Dean's List at the conclusion of each and every one.

Williams is an inspirational story on the court, working her way up from a walk-on to a regular starter for third-year head coach Wes Moore. Williams has started 22 of 24 games this season, is averaging 6.3 points and 3.9 rebounds per game, and is shooting 39-114 (.342) from distance.

Academic All-District honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America Team ballot where first, second, and third-team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.

Williams and the Wolfpack prepare for two home games this week, hosting Boston College Thursday evening and No. 22 Syracuse Sunday afternoon in NC State's 11th annual Hoops 4 Hope game.
