Wolfpack and William & Mary will kick off 2016 season on Sept. 1
RALEIGH, N.C. - NC State football's 2016 season opener against William & Mary has been moved to Thursday, September 1 at Carter-Finley Stadium. The game time will be announced following selections by the ACC's television partners later this year.
NC State's opener, originally scheduled for Sept. 3, becomes the third ACC game scheduled for Thursday of opening week, as Louisville and Wake Forest will also host games that day.
With Labor Day weekend one of the busiest travel periods of the year, the Thursday game allows Wolfpack fans to attend the game and still maintain their holiday weekend plans.
It marks the first time since 2012 that NC State will open the season on a weeknight, and the third time since 2008.
