
Pack Posts Strong Marks at BU Opener

BOSTON – The NC State track and field team opened its 2016-17 indoor season with strong results at the BU Opener. Four from the Pack's women's distance group ran in an elite 5,000m race, using their cross country fitness to earn three top-11 marks in school history. All four are also ranked in the top-11 of the NCAA standings in the event.
 
Erika Kemp led the team with a sixth-place finish in 15:56.52, marking the fourth-fastest time in the current 5,000m standings. Kemp is the indoor 5,000m school record holder and set her personal best of 15:45.46 at last season's race.
 
Rachel Koon finished eighth overall in 16:04.01, setting a personal best by 25 seconds and the sixth-fastest indoor 5,000m time in school history.
 
Ryen Frazier finished 10th overall in 16:27.74, marking her first time running in uniform on the track for the Wolfpack. Her time is the eighth-fastest indoor 5,000m in school history.
 
Alyssa Rudawsky rounded out the group of distance athletes in 11th-place with a personal best of 16:36.66 – good for the 11th-fastest time in school history.
 
All four athletes are currently in the top-11 of the NCAA standings with their race today. The group will aim to stay within the top-16 standings and advance to the NCAA Indoor Championships in March.
