
Balanced Scoring Attack Leads Pack to 97-64 Win over Appalachian State

NC State has a season-high six players score in double figures led by Dennis Smith, Jr., with 22
RALEIGH, N.C. – The NC State men's basketball team cruised to a 97-64 victory over Appalachian State Thursday night inside PNC Arena to improve to 8-2 on the season. The 33-point win marks the Pack's largest margin of victory this season.
In the win, 15 players for the Wolfpack earned playing time, with six players finishing in double figures.
The Wolfpack was led by freshman Dennis Smith, Jr.'s 22 points and six assists. The ACC's Preseason Rookie of the Year also recorded all three of the Pack's steals in the game. Terry Henderson added 11 points and three rebounds, while junior Abdul-Malik Abu added 11 points. Torin Dorn led the Pack with 10 rebounds and finished with seven points to fall three short of his third double-double of the season.
NC State had three players reach double-figures off the bench as the Pack bench scored 46 points Thursday night, double its previous season best. In his Wolfpack debut, Omer Yurtseven scored 12 points while going 4-for-6 from the floor and adding four rebounds. while freshman Ted Kapita posted 10 points and five rebounds. Maverick Rowan, in his second game back for the Pack after missing seven games with a concussion, posted 13 points.
The Wolfpack dominated the entire game in the wire-to-wire victory, going on a 10-0 run to start the game. NC State entered the half up 48-28, while shooting 55.8 percent from the floor.
After halftime, NC State continued to extend its lead with a 15-2 run over the first five minutes of the second half. NC State limited the Mountaineers to a 31.6 percent field-goal percentage. The Pack closed the game on an 11-6 run over the final 4:05, winning by its largest lead of 33 points.
