Â
WOLFPACK QUICK FACTS
-Immediately following a senior day game against Notre Dame on March 1, 2015, Reynolds Coliseum was shut down for a $35 million renovation project which was completed in August 2016. Seats with poor vantage points were removed, the court was shifted to the south endzone, and the marvelous NC State Walk of Fame & History was constructed in the north end of the building. The Wolfpack played the entire 2015-16 season split between PNC Arena and local Broughton High School, and will return to its incredible "new" facility for the 2016-17 season and beyond.
Â
-Viewed by many as arguably the first team left out of the 2016 NCAA Tournament, the Wolfpack will play with ample motivation for the 2016-17 season. Last season's Wolfpack posted a 20-11 overall record, went 10-6 in the ACC, and swept local rivals Duke and North Carolina for the first time since the 1990-91 season.
Â
-NC State returns its top five scorers from the 2015-16 season: Dominique Wilson (Senior): 15.3 ppg, Miah Spencer (Senior): 14.1 ppg, Jennifer Mathurin (Senior): 11.4 ppg, Chelsea Nelson (Junior): 7.2 ppg, and Ashley Williams (Senior): 6.1 ppg.
Â
-Complementing the returning scorers nicely will be NC State's 2016-17 freshman class. Ranked 20th nationally by ESPNW, the class features the following players: Aislinn Konig (ranked No. 38 by ESPNW), Lucky Rudd (No. 94), and Erika Cassell (No. 99).
Â
-The 2016-17 season will be Wes Moore's 28th as a head coach and his fourth in charge of the Wolfpack women's basketball program. Throughout his career, Moore (621-203) has led teams to 20+ win seasons on 22 different occasions and has won 25+ games 10 times. Moore is an impressive 63-34 (.649) during his time with the Wolfpack.
IN-STATE CONNECTIONS
UNCP head coach John Haskins is the father of Connor Haskins, a placekicker on the NC State football team. John's wife Kelly was also on the NC State cheerleading national championship team in the 1980s.Â
Â
