All four teams ranked among top 10 of latest national poll
RALEIGH-Â As both programs are undefeated through two weekends of competition, the NC State swimming and diving team is set for its road dual with Texas Friday.
Both squads met last year in Raleigh for the first time in program history. Friday's meet is set for a 6 p.m. ET start inside Texas' Lee and Joe Jamail Center.
Last Time Out
Last weekend the men's team hosted Northwestern at home on Oct. 28 and the women traveled to Duke on Oct. 29 for their first ACC matchup.
Both squads handed their respective opponents their first loss of the season, as the men defeated the Wildcats, 185-108, while the women earned a 177-123 win over the Blue Devils.
The Wolfpack women's win marked the second team they have defeated that is currently listed among the top 25 of the national poll.
Last Matchup With Texas
In last year's dual with the Longhorns inside the Casey Aquatic Center, the Wolfpack narrowly fell to both top-10 programs. The men fell, 154-136, while the women fell, 160-140.Â
Pack In The Polls
In the first national poll of the season (Oct. 26), the men's team is listed at No. 3 and the women are ranked 4th. This marks the highest ranking the women's program has ever received while the last time the men were No. 3 was in February 2016.
The Pack is the only program to have both its men's and women's team listed in the top-five of the latest national poll.Â
Scouting Texas
Both Longhorn programs are listed among the top 10 of the latest CSCAA national poll, as the men are No. 2 and the women are seventh.
The two-time defending national champion men's squad split its season-opening meets last weekend with Florida and Indiana. The team competed in long course meters on the first day and in short course yards on the second day. The Longhorns defeated the No. 8 Gators but fell to the top-ranked Hoosiers in both formats.
The women also opened its season in the same fashion as the men, sweeping both days over No. 12 Indiana and No. 18 Florida. The squad will host 14th-ranked Texas A&M Thursday afternoon before welcoming the Pack Friday.Â
