Quotes from the Wolfpack
Head coach Wes Moore's opening statement: "We started out slow and in the second period picked it up a little bit. I thought Jen Mathurin gave us a lift with some offensive rebounds. In the third period, when they (Hampton) went zone, we had Ashley Williams, Dominique Wilson, and Jen step up and hit shots to give us some breathing room. In the fourth quarter, the freshmen had a little trouble there with the press and the pressure. Twenty-three turnovers was not a good stat line and we're probably going to see the press soon from other teams. Hopefully we can clean that up and keep building."
Ashley Williams on the third quarter shooting: "When we get hot we're pretty tough to beat and I think that's what happened in the third quarter. Our defense fed off that energy as well, and we started trapping more, which got us moving more. We got out in transition and we had open looks and hit them."
NC State continues its home stand on Saturday evening, hosting College of Charleston. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m. on Kay Yow Court inside Reynolds Coliseum.
