Kozeniesky Breaks Air Rifle Program Record in GARC Win

Senior fires a 599 in air rifle, one shy of a perfect score
COLUMBUS, Ohio – NC State Olympian Lucas Kozeniesky had a nearly perfect day in the air rifle competition Saturday afternoon to break the program record with a score of 599, just one point shy of a perfect score, in the Wolfpack's Great America Rifle Conference (GARC) win against Memphis.
The 11th-ranked Wolfpack fired a team score of 4642 to earn the victory, as No. 12 Memphis registered a team score of 4632.
NC State improves to 6-2 overall and 3-1 in conference action, while the Tigers fall to 11-4 and 5-2 in league competition.
Worth Noting
- Kozeniesky's score of 599 is just one of four fired this season in air rifle, as West Virginia's Olympian Ginny Thrasher has achieved the mark twice and TCU's Mindy Miles has tallied it once.
- The senior logged perfect 100s on his first five series of air rifle before recording a 99 on his final series.
- It marks the second time this season that the Fairfax, Va., native has broken the school record as he fired a 597 at Akron earlier this year to best the previous program record of 596.

- Memphis owned a slim four-point lead following the smallbore competition, as the Tigers charted a 2292 team score and NC State earned a 2288.
- Kozeniesky fired the Wolfpack's best score with a 578 clip, highlighted by a 98 in his first series in the prone position.
- Graduate student Lauren Phillips posted the Pack's next score at 574 and sophomore William Marciniak fired a 569.
- Derya Pekari and Caitlyn Ford were the final two members of NCSU's counting lineup, recording scores of 569 and 561, respectively.
- Freshman Zach Eisenberg charted a score of 562 and sophomore Tyler Lefebvre earned a 539.

- Rounding out the lineup for the Pack was Pekari with a 578 clip.
- Non-counting shooters in the event were Ford with a 583 and Lefebvre with a 574.
