
Gymnastics Adds Two In Early Signing Period For 2017-18 Roster

RALEIGH- The NC State gymnastics team has added two gymnasts in the early signing period to its roster for the 2017-18 season, as announced by head coach Mark Stevenson.

Lauren Kent and Tori Prati both signed National Letters of Intent this week and will join the program in the fall of 2017.

"We're extremely happy to have Lauren and Tori join us next year. Both are have qualified for Level 10 Nationals several years in a row and come from great gyms with excellent coaching. Both have potential to make an immediate impact, so we're very excited to have them coming on board," said Stevenson.

Kent is a Holly Springs, N.C., native who trains under Milan and Heidi Stanovich at Sonshine Gymnastics. In the 2016 competition season she saw success at the state, regional and national levels, which was highlighted by top-20 finishes on bars, vault and in the all-around at the Junior Olympic National Championship.

At the Level 10 Regional Championship she placed second on bars and in the all-around and additionally placed third on beam. She won bars at the Level 10 State Championship while placing third on floor and fourth in the all-around.

Kent was a Junior Olympic Nationals qualifier in 2014 and '15, finishing among the top six in her respective events at the Level 10 State and Regional Championships both years.

Prati hails from Claremont, Fla., where she trains under Brandy Johnson-Scharpf and Kelly Pitzen at Brandy Johnson's Gymnastics Academy.

She has also put together a strong resume in 2016, as she won beam and placed second on vault, floor and in the all-around at the Level 10 State Championship. She additionally placed second in the all-around and finished in the top-five on each rotation at the Level 10 Regional Championship.

In 2015 she finished 11th as an all-arounder at the Junior Olympic Nationals, while placing top-three in her respective events at the Level 10 State and Regional Championships. In 2014 she won the all-around and bars and placed second on vault and floor at the state championship and finished in the top 10 of the all-around and on floor at the regional meet.
