Clyburn turns in 72 in opening round
WILMINGTON, N.C.- Led by sophomore India Clyburn's score of 72 (E), the NC State women's golf team opened its showing at the Landfall Tradition on Friday with a score of 296 ( 8) to sit in a three-way tie for sixth place of 18 teams.
Clyburn was the low competitor for the Wolfpack, as her performance featured two birdies and two bogies. This is the sixth round of the season that she has put up a score of even par or better, as she currently sits in 13th on the individual leaderboard.
Naomi Ko and Leonie Bettel carded scores of 73 and 74, in respective order, to sit among the top 30 of the 96-player field. Cecily Overbey and Laura Kowohl rounded out the Pack's top five with rounds of 77 and 79, respectively.
Oklahoma leads the team leaderboard with a four-under 284, while Wake Forest and Purdue are in second and third with scores of 288 and 291.
NC State will continue competition Saturday at the Landfall Tradition. The Pack will be paired with competitors from Iowa and South Carolina between 8:30 and 9:06 off of the first hole.
