BEATING DUKE
1/22/2016 9:08:00 AM | Men's Basketball
The last two times Duke has come to PNC Arena to play the Wolfpack, the visiting team from Durham has been highly-ranked. And both times, NC State sent Duke home with a loss.
Â
NC State 84, #1 Duke 76 - 2013
Duke came to Raleigh in January 2013 as the nation's No. 1 team. The Wolfpack, ranked 20th in the country, got 25 points from C.J. Leslie along with 16 points and 18 rebounds from Richard Howell to beat Duke 84-76. It was the sixth time in NC State history – and the first time in nine years – the Wolfpack had defeated the nation's top-ranked team.
 NC State 87, #2 Duke 75 - 2015
Last year, NC State hosted Duke when the Blue Devils were ranked No. 2 and boasted a record of 14-0. After leading 37-33 at halftime, the Wolfpack nearly ran Duke out of the building. The Pack scored on seven straight possessions at one point and built its lead to 19 points. Duke made a late run, but a fast-break dunk by Desmond Lee put the exclamation point on the key season-changing victory for NC State. Trevor Lacey scored 21 points and the Wolfpack shot 55 percent on the day, including 10-for-16 from 3-point range.
Â
NC State 88, #7 Duke 74 - 2010
The Wolfpack also defeated Duke in 2010 when Sidney Lowe was the head coach. Duke was ranked No. 7 when the Pack won 88-74. All five Wolfpack starters scored in double figures against a Duke team that would go on to win the national championship.
