The team earned an overall mark of 193.625
LAS VEGAS- In its second meet of the 2016 season, three freshmen from the NC State gymnastics team posted career-high marks on vault Thursday evening at the Lady Luck Invitational, hosted by Brown's Gymnastics inside South Point Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.
The 23rd-ranked Wolfpack earned a team total of 193.625, while its opponent, No .1 LSU, posted a mark of 195.825.
From The Coach's Perspective
"We're really pleased with how the team fought through everything tonight. Despite being on the west coast their bodies were still on east coast time, which isn't something we're used to. It was definitely worth the trip though to see LSU, see where we need to get to and things we need to work on," said head coach Mark Stevenson.
"We were much better on vault tonight and landed better on floor, but struggled on beam and bars. Someone that stood out tonight was Chelsea Knight. She has now had seven strong routines this year; she competed flawlessly last weekend as an all-arounder and was very clean again this week in her three events. We have a good five days of practice before the next meet so we want to be ready by the end of this week so that we'll be prepared to go to Chicago."
Uneven Bars
Led by a mark of 9.750 from sophomore Chelsea Knight and a score of 9.700 from senior Courtney Turner, NC State started off the meet with a team total 48.425 on uneven bars.
Knight's performance earned her a sixth-place finish on the event while Turner finished seventh in the overall standings.

Additionally, Alexa Phillips posted a 9.775 to finish ninth, Knight earned a mark of 9.750 to finish 10th while Amanda Fillard recorded a score of 9.700 to finish 11th.
For Caitlyn Fillard, Phillips and Tamburro, their performances marked career highs for all three freshmen.
Floor Exercise
On floor exercise, seniors Michaela Woodford and Brittni Watkins both posted a score of 9.775 to lead the Wolfpack to a team total of 48.225. Their results put them in a tie for fifth place.
