Chavis, Kemp Earn ACC Performer of the Week Honors

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Nicole Chavis earned ACC Co-Women's Field Performer of the Week honors and Erika Kemp was named the ACC Women's Track Performer of the Week, as announced by the conference office on Tuesday.

Both Chavis and Kemp got off to an early start in the indoor track season, posting national marks in December track meets.

Chavis won the weight throw at the Liberty Kickoff, posting a throw of 67'3.5". Her mark currently ranks fourth in the nation. Last year the two-time All-American only threw four throws farther than her opening mark this season.

Kemp earned her mark in the 5,000m race at the BU Season Opener, crossing the finish line in 15:45.46. The time is currently ranked first in the nation and broke NC State's 24-year old indoor 5,000m school record by almost 10 seconds.

The two honorees are part of NC State's successful start to the track season, which features four national top-15 marks and a 15th-place national ranking for the women's track and field team.
