Norenius takes third place in black draw
CARY, N.C. - The NC State men's tennis team concluded action at the Duke James Bonk Invite, as three players made their way to Sunday matches. Simon Norenius led the way, picking up his third win of the weekend.
Final Results
Norenius powered past North Carolina's Blaine Boyden in straight sets, winning, 7-6 (3), 6-4. The Swede opens his fall season with a 3-1 singles record.
In the white draw, Horton faced off in the final against North Carolina's Brett Clark. The two played their second match against each other in as many weeks.
Last Sunday, Horton pulled out a, 7-6 (2), 6-4, victory over Clark and eventually went on to the main singles draw of the Cary Tennis Championships.
This Sunday, it was UNC's Clark who prevailed, taking the match, 7-6 (5), 6-2. In consolation action, Shoti Meparidze dropped a tight, 6-4, 7-5, decision to Jaken Thoen of Radford.
Up Next:
The Wolfpack will have next weekend off in preparation for Oct. 3rd trips to the ITA All-American Championships, the USTA Mansfield Pro Circuit and the Elon Invitational.
