Wolfpack Plays No. 10 Pepperdine Sunday

SAN DIEGO – The NC State women's soccer team returns to action on Sunday afternoon, taking on No. 10 Pepperdine in its final match of the 2015 Torero Classic. The Wolfpack is looking to bounce back following a narrow 2-1 defeat at San Diego on Friday evening.
A WIN ON SUNDAY WOULD
-Be the 322nd win in program history
-Be NC State's first win over Pepperdine (first meeting)
-Be NC State's first win on the West Coast since 2002 (4-0 over Cal St. Northridge)
SERIES HISTORY
-Friday's match will mark the first-ever meeting between NC State and Pepperdine.
SCOUTING THE WAVES
-Pepperdine enters Sunday's match ranked No. 10 in the NSCAA preseason poll.
-The Waves picked up a 1-0 overtime win on August 21 over Cal State Northridge.
-Pepperdine posted a 16-3-4 mark during the 2014 season, winning two games in the NCAA Tournament before falling in the Sweet 16.
-The Waves were picked to finish third in the preseason West Coast Conference poll.
STENGEL RETURNS
Nearly 365 days removed from an August injury suffered last season at No. 20 Georgetown, NC State co-captain Jackie Stengel returned to the field for the Pack at San Diego. She entered in the 27th minute and scored the 10th goal of her career in the 45th to give the Pack a 1-0 lead.
CAREER DEBUTS
Six Wolfpackers made their career debuts in the August 21 match at San Diego. Five members of the freshman class played (four started) and senior Shannon Cleaver made her first appearance for the Wolfpack after battling through injuries for the last three seasons.
