David Cooke Advances at 2015 U.S. Amateur Championship

OLYMPIA FIELDS, Ill. – David Cooke of the NC State men's golf team has advanced to the second phase of the 2015 U.S. Amateur Championship.

The rising Wolfpack senior shot a two-round score of 141 (+1) and was tied for 26th when the second day of stroke play was suspended due to darkness. With the projected cut line at +3, Cooke has safely advanced to the match-play round of the competition.

In the match-play round, the final 64 golfers will square off head-to-head, with winners of each matchup advancing towards the 36-hole championship final (match play) on Sunday.

Cooke trimmed more than two strokes per round from his 18-hole average during his sophomore season to his junior season at NC State. He led the team with a 72.2 single-round average, four finishes within tournament top 10s, and two individual titles.
