LYNCHBURG, Va. – The NC State track and field team wrapped up competition at the Liberty Kickoff on Friday. Joshua Davis picked up a win in the weight throw, and Grant Rivers finished third in the heptathlon.
On his first throw, Davis reached the winning mark of 61'10.25". The mark is less than two feet away from the redshirt sophomore's personal best.
In the heptathlon, Rivers won the 60m hurdles (8.94), finished third in the 1,000m(3:02.73) and took fifth in the pole vault with an indoor personal best of 13'5.25". Overall Rivers finished with 4,710 points.
Yesterday Nicole Chavis won the women's weight throw, throwing 67'3.50", which ranks as the nation's best throw.
Three from the Pack's distance squad will be in action at the BU Opener on Saturday.
