The Midlands Championships annually features the best wrestlers from across the nation. Forty-two teams and over 400 competitors comprise the 2015 Midlands field for the largest tournament in history. In addition to No. 3 NC State, the following ranked Division I teams will compete at #Midlands53: No. 2 Iowa, No. 8 Rutgers, No. 9 Nebraska, No. 11 Illinois, No. 18 Iowa State, No. 20 Pittsburgh, and No. 21 Ohio.
The Midlands Championships will be the Pack's first competition since a 26-15 dual win over No. 24 Old Dominion on Dec. 17. Four of the Pack's five wins were bonus point victories, starting with a technical fall in the first bout, the Wolfpack then scored back-to-back pins in the middle of the dual, and concluded the win with a DQ.
The Wolfpack sits at a perfect 11-0 in duals on the season - the most consecutive wins in school history to open a season. The 11 wins thus far lead the nation, and NC State is one of just seven schools still undefeated in 2015-16. For the second straight week, the Pack remains #3 in the USA Today/NWCA Wrestling Coaches poll.
Six of the Pack's 10 starters remained ranked in the top-20 in every major poll this week:
