RALEIGH, N.C. - The 13th-ranked NC State wrestling team will be in road action this weekend for a pair of duals, traveling to Appalachian State on Friday night and then to #4 Oklahoma State on Sunday afternoon.

NC State is a perfect 7-0 this season in dual action - competing this weekend in duals for the first time in the past two weeks. The Pack's top win of the season thus far was a 31-3 win over then-No. 16 Minnesota, a dual that saw NC State win nine of the 10 bouts.
This week, NC State is ranked #5 by FloWrestling, #9 by Wrestling Report, #10 by WIN Magazine, #13 in the USA Today/NWCA Division I Coaches Poll, and #14 by InterMat.

The Pack will a perfect 3-0 at Appalachian State, including a 28-6 win in 2014 in head coach Pat Popolizio's second season with the Pack.
Last year, the Pack defeated Appalachian State 29-12 in mid-December in Reynolds. NC State won seven of the 10 bouts last season, with four bonus point wins.

Last season's meeting was a close affair. After the Cowyboys won the first three bouts and built a 9-0 lead, the Pack battled back winning four of the next five matches, as the dual was tied 12-12 with 157 and 165 pounds matchups left. The Cowboys had two ranked wrestlers each score major decisions on the final two matches for the 20-12 final score.
Popolizio Faces Alma Mater
NC State head coach Pat Popolizio graduated from Oklahoma State in 2001 capping a career that saw him become a three-time NCAA qualifier who won over 90 matches as he helped the Cowboys to four top-five national finishes during his time in Stillwater.
He is facing the Cowboys for the second time since he came to NC State, and while he was head coach at Binghamton (2007-12) Popolizio faced his alma mater in four dual matches.
