
Defensive Performance Leads to 24-8 Win at Boston College

RALEIGH, N.C. - A strong defensive performance led the Wolfpack to a 24-8 win at Boston College on Saturday.
The Pack's offense also put forth a game-winning effort against the nation's top ranked overall defense. Without its leading rusher for the first game this season, Matthew Dayes, the Pack rushed for 139 yards against an Eagles defense led the nation in rushing defense, giving up just 64.2 yards a game. The Eagles also came in leading the nation it total defense, allowing just 223.8 yards per game, but the Pack finished with 351 total yards of offense.
WOLFPACK SPOTLIGHT DRIVE - 1st Half
7 plays, 84-yard TD drive in second quarter
Hard to top the Pack's opening TD drive - one play, 83 yard TD drive with Jacoby Brissett finding Maurice Trowell on the Pack's first snap in the second quarter, but the Pack came right back and marched down the field the next drive.
NC State went 84 yards in seven plays to take a 14-0 lead in the second quarter. Brissett found WR Jumichael Ramos down the sideline for a 33-yard gain, and two plays later, Jaylen Samuels took a jet sweep around the endge and found the end zone from five yards out.
WOLFPACK SPOTLIGHT DRIVE - 2nd Half
3 plays, 44-yard TD drive in third quarter
After forcing a three-and-out to start the third quarter, the Pack went 3 plays, 44 yards and opened a 21-0 lead early in the half. Freshman RB Reggie Gallaspy went 35 yards up the middle untouched for the score.

• NC State picked up its sixth win of the season, becoming bowl eligible for the second straight year under coach Dave Doeren, and for the fifth time in the past six years.
• NC State improves to 4-1 on the road this season, the most road wins since 2002 (4).
• The win at Boston College was the first in Chestnut Hill since the Eagles joined the ACC (1-5) and the first at Boston College for NC State since 1937 (2-6).
• NC State forced four BC turnovers on the days, the most by the Pack defense since last year's Florida State game - a span of 17 games. Entering today, NC State had just two forced turnovers in the first four ACC games. The three interceptions are the most for the Pack defense since 2013 Duke game.
• Both of WR Maurice Trowell's TD catches this year have been 50+ yards - 59 yards at Wake Forest and today for 83 yards on the Pack's first TD.
• The Pack was without two of its starting DBs from last week, as CB Jack Tocho and SS Shawn Boone both did not suit up due to injuries.
• QB Jacoby Brissett was just 2-of-6 for 13 yards and 1 INT in the first quarter, but turned right around and went 3-of-5 for 125 and 1 TD in the second quarter.
• DE Mike Rose was credited with 4.5 TFLs on the day. He now has a TFL in 16 straight games dating back to last season and leads the Pack with 15 this year.
• Fr. punter A.J. Cole's 72-yard punt in the fourth quarter is the 9th longest in school history and the longest since Austin Herbet's 76-yarder in 2003.
• NC State's defense combined for 13 tackles for loss on the day and seven sacks.
