Wolfpack’s top freshman earns postseason accolade
GREENSBORO, N.C. – For the second consecutive season, the NC State volleyball team had a player selected to the All-ACC Freshman Team. Blayke Hranicka claimed this year's honor, as announced by the conference office Wednesday.
Â
The Denver, Colo., native is the Wolfpack's leading point scorer this season with 393 to her credit. Hranicka tallied the second-most blocks on the squad with 136 and also charted 35 service aces, the second-best total on the team.
Â
Offensively, she has logged double-digit kills in 12 matches to compile 281 for the year, which is the fourth-most on the squad. Hranicka swatted a career-best 17 kills on two occasions this season, at home against Wake Forest and Miami.
Â
In the Wolfpack's 3-0 win against Tennessee, Hranicka matched the program record with 12 blocks. It stands as the most blocks in a three-set match by a player in the ACC this season and most by a freshman in the NCAA.
Â
The NC State middle blocker has tallied the fifth-best attacking percentage in the ACC and the highest for a freshman in the conference.
Â
Last season, Kaitlyn Kearney claimed the honor, as the future of the NC State volleyball team looks very bright.
Â
The Wolfpack will conclude the season at Wake Forest Saturday afternoon. First serve is slated for 1 p.m. inside Reynolds Gym.Â
