BLACKSBURG, VA. - The host Virginia Tech Hokies scored three unanswered second quarter TDs and held off the visiting Wolfpack 28-13 Friday night at Lane Stadium.
The first half was a tale of two quarters. The Pack dominated the first quarter and outgained the Hokies 145-29, but the second quarter was a complete reversal with Virginia Tech having a 156-2 advantage in yardage. The Hokies were up 21-10 at the half after scoring three unanswered passing TDs in the second quarter.
The Pack closed the gap to eight points with seven minutes left (21-13), but Hokies RB Travon McMillan ran for a 59-yard score to secure the win.
WOLFPACK SPOTLIGHT DRIVE
12 plays, 91-yard TD drive for first Wolfpack touchdown.
On the second play of the second quarter, Jacoby Brissett found WR Jumichael Ramos in the corner of the end zone for an 8-yard TD score. The TD catch capped a 12-play, 91-yard drive that took up 6:15. Brissett was a perfect 3-of-3 for 38 yards on the drive.
NOTABLES
• Freshman PK Kyle Bambard set a new career-best with two field goals in the game (33 and 36 yards). He came into the game 1-of-4 on the season.
• NC State was a perfect 3-for-3 in the red zone today (1 TD, 2 FGs) and is now 24-of-27 on the season.
• QB Jacoby Brissett had his consecutive pass attempts without an INT streak come to an end with his first pick of the season. Dating back to last season, Brissett had thrown 241 consecutive passes without an INT, that streak now ranks third best in ACC history.

The Wolfpack will have a bye week next weekend, and return to action on Oct. 24 at Wake Forest.
