Pack’s 41 Points Not Enough in Home Loss to #3 Clemson

RALEIGH, N.C. - The NC State offense scored 41 points on No. 3 Clemson to keep the game close, but it was the Clemson Tigers offense that shined brighter in a 56-41 win at Carter-Finley. The Pack's offense tallied 389 yards and the special teams had 100-yard kickoff return for a score, but Clemson answered ever score and never trailed after gaining a 26-20 lead right before halftime.
Both teams exploded coming out of the locker room to start the game, as the teams combined for 26 points in the first 4:32 and were tied 13-13 early. After a pair of Tigers field goals, the Pack found the end zone late in the second to go up 20-19, but Clemson scored with just 40 seconds left in the half to take a 26-20 halftime lead, a lead the Tigers would hold the rest of the game.
WOLFPACK SPOTLIGHT DRIVE - 1st Half
6 plays, 75-yard TD drive on opening possession
NC State took the game's opening kick and converted it into a touchdown just six plays into the game. After a Matthew Dayes' 41-yard gallop in the game's second play, the Pack's Jacoby Brissett ran into the end zone from 13 yards out on a 4th & 2 play to start the day's scoring.
WOLFPACK SPOTLIGHT DRIVE - 2nd Half
3 plays, 75-yard TD drive in third quarter
With Matthew Dayes unable to return after the half, FB Jaylen Samuels assumed a bigger role in the Pack offense. The Pack got the ball at their 25-yard line, and after Jacoby Brissett went for eight yards on first down, Samuels completed the drive for another Pack TD. He burst through a hole for a career-long 66-yard gain, then on the next play got into the end zone from a yard out.

It was also the 10th kickoff return of more than 95 yards in NC State history, now four of those have come against the Tigers.
