Women's Tennis Set For ITA Regional

RALEIGH, N.C. – A loaded Wolfpack roster is set to begin competition at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Carolina's Regional Thursday. This marks the first time since the season opener all eight Pack players competed at the same tournament.

The No. 75 ranked squad will travel to Chapel Hill, N.C., where the team is set to play five days of singles and doubles elimination match-ups from a slate of schools listed among ITA rankings including: No. 2 Duke, No. 3 UNC, No. 13 Clemson, No. 26 South Carolina, No. 60 Winthrop, No. 61 Wake Forest and No. 72 Elon.

"Every fall the ITA Regional is always going to be a focal point for every program and is one of the most important tournaments there is. It gives some players the chance to see players they may not ordinarily see either in the spring or at other flighted tournaments, therefore it's a great opportunity for some to step up and really show the improvements they have made."

"The whole team opened play in early September and for us it has been quite a while since we have had the entire team together again. It's going to be nice to see how the larger group interacts and can help one another. Our team has specific goals and how we perform, particularly in this event, is going to go a long way towards evaluating how we are doing and what we need to be doing to finish off the fall season in the best way possible." – Simon Earnshaw, head coach

Tournament play begins Thursday at 9:30 a.m. with round one of singles qualifying draws. Second round play will begin at noon.

Two from the Pack will enter the tournament in the qualifying draws. Tayla Stenta is set to face-off against Macy Vonderschmidt of Charlotte at 9:30 a.m., and Taylor Zaytoun will take the court against the top-seeded Xue Zhang of Wake Forest at 10:30 a.m.

Main draw doubles play is set to begin at 2 p.m. Thursday, completing rounds of 64 and 32 on the first day of the tournament. All NC State doubles duos will compete in the doubles bracket.

Martina Frantova, Barbara Mancera, Bianca Moldovan, Joanna Nalborska, Amanda Rebol and Claudia Wiktorin each begin singles play in main draw matches Friday.
