Horton, Dempster Crowned ITA Carolina Regional Doubles Champions

The duo went 5-0 during its tournament run

CARY, N.C. – After five days of matches at the Cary Tennis Center, Ian Dempster and Nick Horton are bound for the ITA National Indoor Championships. The 41^st-ranked Wolfpack duo defeated Romain Bogaerts and Maksim Kan of Wake Forest, 6-1, 7-6(2), to win the 2015 ITA Carolina Regional Doubles Title.

This marks the Wolfpack's third consecutive year in the championship doubles match, and its second straight year as doubles champions.

The Championship Match:
Horton and Dempster took the first set with ease, winning the opening frame, 6-1. In the second set, Wake Forest came out strong and took a 5-2 lead. Horton and Dempster rattled off three straight games to tie the match.

Wake took a 6-5 advantage, but the Wolfpack duo came from behind a second time in the set to send the match into a tiebreak. In the tiebreak, Horton and Dempster picked up the pace to win, 7-2, and claim the overall match.

Path To The Championship:
In only their second time as doubles partners, Dempster and Horton recorded a 5-0 record. They eased through the opening two rounds, winning both matches in straight sets. On Monday, the pairing edged teams from Presbyterian and Charlotte in a pair of three-set matches to make it to the championship match.
