Pack XC Gains Experience at Wake Forest Invite

Eight runners line up for the Wolfpack
KERNERSVILLE, N.C. – In addition to the team races in Wisconsin, several #PackXC individuals competed at the Wake Forest Invitational Friday night. Luis Vargas won the individual men's race, and several members on both teams ran solid races.
Vargas Dominates:
After winning the adidas XC Challenge in August, Luis Vargas was back in action as an unattached runner. Vargas won the race with ease, crossing the finish in 24:11.01 – nearly 34 seconds ahead of the second-place runner. Dating back to his time at Elon, Vargas has won eight of his last nine races cross country races.
Harvey's Back:
After missing both the 2014-15 indoor and 2015 outdoor track seasons, Alexa Harvey was back in competition for the Wolfpack. The fifth-year senior had a strong debut, posting a mark of 22:07.13 to finish 14th overall.
Notables:
Rachel Bartolomeo followed up her top-10 finish in the open race at Notre Dame with a 12th-place finish at Wake. Bartolomeo crossed the finish line in 22:02.94 to lead NC State in the women's race.
Megan Vaughn ran unattached and finished right behind Harvey for 15th. Vaughn crossed the finish line in 22:20.58 in her first collegiate 6,000m race.
Vibushan Sivakumaran tallied another consistent run, taking 32nd in the men's race with a time of 25:47.30.
Aaron Thomas, Ben Barrett and Kyle Christ all ran in their first 8,000m race of the season unattached. Thomas led the trio, finishing 38th with a time of 25:53.61.
