| Season Stats
No. 20 NC State men's soccer fell 6-2 on Friday night at Duke's Koskinen Stadium.
The Wolfpack (7-3-3, 1-2-3 ACC) played capably into the 24th minute before a red card against Reed Norton awarded the Blue Devils (6-6-2, 1-4-1) a penalty kick to break the scoreless tie. Duke quickly added a second goal in the 26th, and a third in the 34th against the shorthanded Pack to put the match virtually out of reach.
"Thing like this happen in the game of soccer," said NC State head coach Kelly Findley. "The mark of a good team is how they respond to adversity. I know we will respond well on Monday night against App State."
Julius Duchscherer put State on the board in the 51st minute with his third score of the year, off a penalty drawn by Matias Fracchia.Â
Travis Wannemuehler found freshman Clayton Sparks upfield in the 68th minute for the first collegiate goal of Sparks's career, slipped past the keeper to the left post.Â
Duke set the final margin on a goal scored with 15 seconds remaining.
NC State returns to action on Monday, October 19 to host Appalachian State. Streaming coverage and live stats will be available on GoPack.com. Fans can follow along with live Twitter updates via @PackMensSoccer.
