NC State goalkeeper Alex McCauley becomes the second Wolfpacker this season to earn at least a share of the ACC's weekly defensive honor
NC State's Alex McCauley earned a share of the ACC's Defensive Player of the Week award, announced Tuesday by the league office.
McCauley splits the honor with Wake Forest goalkeeper Alec Ferrell after the two locked down a scoreless draw over 110 minutes on Friday night at Dail Soccer Stadium.
A senior from Marietta, Ga., McCauley contributed his ninth career shutout and third of the year with six saves, preserving the draw with a critical save in the 70th minute.
The honor marks McCauley's second career weekly recognition, following his 12-save effort against Louisville in October 2014, good for the ACC Player of the Week.
McCauley is the second Wolfpack player to earn at least a share of the Defensive Player of the Week award. Caleb Duvernay previously took home the honor on September 15 of this season.
