Wolfpack Hosts No. 3 Virginia Friday Night

RALEIGH – The NC State women's soccer team closes out a three-match Atlantic Coast Conference home stand on Friday evening when it hosts the No. 3 Virginia Cavaliers. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. from Dail Soccer Field with the match scheduled to be broadcast live on ESPN3.

LAST MATCH
NC State outshot Boston College 13-10 in a tough 1-0 loss on Sept. 27. The Pack was in control for most of the match with both Jackie Stengel and Dayna Tomayko recording a game-high four shots.

A WIN ON FRIDAY WOULD...

-Be the Pack's first ACC win of the season
-Be the Pack's first win over a top-10 team since a 2-1 win over No. 1 UNC-Chapel Hill on Oct. 10, 2002.

SERIES HISTORY
-Friday's match marks the 40th meeting between NC State and Virginia.
-The Cavaliers hold a 24-13-2 edge in the series.
-The Wolfpack last defeated the Cavaliers on Sept. 24, 2009. NC State defeated then-No. 14 Virginia 2-1 in Raleigh.

SCOUTING THE CAVALIERS
-Virginia enters Friday's match the owner of an 8-1-1 record and the No. 3 national ranking in the Sept. 29 NSCAA poll.
-The Cavaliers have outscored their opponents 33-6 this season and have recorded six shutouts.
-Nine different Virginia players have scored at least two goals this year. Morgan Reuther leads all players with six goals.
-Virginia's only loss this season came in 2OT to No. 6 Notre Dame.

ANOTHER LINE OF DEFENSE
NC State has recorded two team defensive saves during the 2015 season. Sophomore Mackenzie Graybill and junior Alyson Brown have each headed shot attempts off the goal line this season.

THE REGULARS
Only four Wolves have started all 12 matches of the 2015 season. Two of them--Hannah Keogh and Taylor Porter--are true freshmen.

FIRST GOAL IS KEY
NC State is 4-1-0 in matches this season when it finds the back of the net before its opponent. The only loss came in the season opener at San Diego.
