RALEIGH, N.C. – The ACC announced the seeds and brackets for the 2018 ACC Wrestling Championship, which will be hosted by North Carolina this Saturday in Chapel Hill at Carmichael Gymnasium.
The 2018 ACC regular season champions with a perfect 5-0 mark, NC State earned a pair of No. 1 seeds, at 141 (Sr. Kevin Jack) and at 157 pounds (R-Fr. Hayden Hidlay).
Virginia Tech (165, 174, 184 and 197 pounds) was the only other school with multiple No. 1 seeds. Virginia (125), Pittsburgh (133), North Carolina (149), and Duke (285) all had one top seed, meaning all six ACC schools have at least one No. 1 seed this year.
In addition, the Pack had five No. 2 seeds, as seven of the 10 Wolfpack participants will have a bye into the semifinals. The six-team, one-day tournament sees each of the top two seeds with a bye to open.
Starting as the second seed will be R-Jr. Sean Fausz (125), R-Sr. Beau Donahue (149), R-Sr. Pete Renda (184), R-Sr. Michael Macchiavello (197) and Sr. Michael Boykin (285).
Rounding out the Pack's lineup, R-Fr. Tariq Wilson (133) and R-Sr. Brian Hamann (165) are both third in their weight classes while R-Fr. Daniel Bullard (174) is No. 4.
For the third straight year, no Wolfpack wrestler was seeded lower than fourth in any of the 10 weight classes.
Every match on Saturday will be streamed on ACC Network Extra. The first round starts at 11 a.m., and the finals are set to begin at 7 p.m. You can also follow NC State Wrestling on twitter at @PackWrestle for updates throughout the day.
