Â
After a lengthy rain delay, the third round commenced and Rogers got thing off on the right foot for the Wolfpack, defeating No. 25 Celia Cervino Ruiz 6-3, 6-1. Reami continued her high level of play, as she toppled Enya Ratkic 6-4, 6-0. Moldovan dropped the first set 4-6, but bounced back in the second as she prevailed 6-3, setting up a third-set tiebreak. Unfortunately, she fell 10-2, ending her singles run to No. 22 Sarah Dvorak. Rebol also fell 6-0, 6-1 to No. 2 Anastasia Rychagova.
Â
With only a short time between matches, all four women soon returned to the court for doubles competition. No. 17 Rebol and Reami put in one of the most impressive performances of the tournament, as they defeated No. 1 Dvorak and Felicity Maltby 8-6. The duo of Rogers and Moldovan did not let up either, as they prevailed 8-6 over No. 11 Karina Traxler and Tiffany Hellebeck.
Â
Despite the excessive heat, Reami has enjoyed being back around her teammates and has been happy with her play so far.
Â
"It was tough battling through these conditions, but I was able to close off my matches with wins," she said. "I'm enjoying this tournament and I hope to keep succeeding with the same mindset."
