Wolfpack shortstop leads the team with 16 home runs and 47 RBI
TUCSON, Ariz. – NC State's Joe Dunand has been named an All-American by Collegiate Baseball Newspaper (CBN), announced Thursday by the organization. The Wolfpack's starting shortstop garners second team honors.
Â
Dunand owns a team-high 16 home runs and leads the team with 47 runs batted in (RBI). The Miami, Fla., native has compiled a .284 batting average on the year to go along with the Wolfpack's highest slugging percentage at .619.
Â
Earlier this season, Dunand was tabbed CBN and College Sports Madness National Player of the Week and Co-ACC Player of the Week after he was 9-for-15 with 13 RBI, eight runs scored, four home runs and four doubles to help NC State compile a perfect 5-0 mark against opponents.
Â
Dunand has put together a team-best .367 clip at the plate in the last 17 games, helping NC State win 14 of those contests.
Â
For the season, he owns 13 multi-hit games and is second on the team with 12 multi-RBI contests. He turned in one of his top performances of the season against North Carolina Central with a 3-for-3 outing at the plate to go along with a pair of homers and five RBI.
Â
Dunand is one of 14 selections from the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC), more than any other league.
Â
NC State opens play in the NCAA Lexington (Ky.) Regional against Indiana Friday night at 7 p.m. at Cliff Hagan Stadium on the University of Kentucky's campus.
