NC State defeats Louisville
RALEIGH—The No. 28 NC State women's tennis team set a program record Sunday at the J.W. Isenhour Tennis Center as it collected its 18th win of the season, defeating Louisville with a 5-2 result. The Wolfpack's 18-9 (7-7 ACC) record not only marks the most wins in program history, but also the most victories the team has tallied over ACC opponents.
The previous record number of wins was set in 2006 with 17, while the Wolfpack earned six conference wins last season.
Additionally, the team's record places NC State fifth in the conference, its best finish in 18 years and second-highest in history after the program finished third in 1998.
Match Recap
NC State started off the day with a win in doubles. On court one, No. 13 Frantova and Anna Rogers earned their 20th overall and 14th straight win, taking down Louisville's Abbie Pahz and Mariana Humberg with a 6-4 decision. On court three, Adriana Reami and Tayla Stenta cruised past the Cardinals' Aleksandra Mally and Oliva Boesing to win, 6-3, sending the Wolfpack into singles play with a 1-0 advantage.
In singles, Louisville tied the match with a win on court three as Mariana Humberg defeated Claudia Wiktorin, 6-2, 6-0, but NC State responded, battling through three-setters on courts four and two to move the team score to 3-1. Reami took down Pahz on court four, 6-2, 4-6, 6-3 and Rogers outlasted Elle Stokes on court two to win by a 5-7, 6-4, 6-2 decision.
Louisville fought back to win at the top singles position as the Cardinals' Mally defeated No. 73 Frantova in a three-setter, 3-6, 7-6, 6-4.
In the final match of the day, Amanda Rebol rattled off a 6-1, 6-2 win over Ariana Rodriguez on court six.
The results move the Cardinals to 13-11 (2-10 ACC).
Before the match began, the Wolfpack celebrated the team's senior, Martina Frantova.

The Wolfpack will travel to Rome, Ga., for the ACC Championship tournament held April 26-30.
