
Softball Travels To No. 19/19 Tennessee For Weekend Series

RALEIGH – NC State's softball team will head to No. 19/19 Tennessee this weekend for a three-game series. Friday's matchup is set for a 6 p.m. start, while Saturday's contest is slated for 4 p.m. and first pitch Sunday is 12 p.m. at the Sherri Parker Lee Stadium in Knoxville, Tenn.
The Wolfpack enters the weekend with a 12-21 (6-3 ACC) record, while the Volunteers are 28-5 (6-3 SEC) this season. Radio coverage will be available for all three games on Sports Radio WMNL though UT's All-Access page.
PACK VS. VOLS HISTORY
Friday will mark the sixth time the teams have met in program history, as Tennessee leads the all-time series 5-0. The two teams last met in 2013 at the NCAA Tournament in Knoxville, as the Pack fell 1-0 on May 18 and 7-0 on May 19 to the Vols.

NC State dropped a 5-3 decision with Liberty on Wednesday evening at Dail Stadium.
TURNING TWO
NC State has fielded 13 double plays this season, which ranks fifth in the ACC. The Pack tallied two in Wednesday's game. Alyssa Compton fielded the first one catching a line out and tagging second base, and Peyton Silverman caught a popped up bunt and threw to Cheyenne Balzer at first base to tag the runner coming back. This marked the first game of the season the team has made two double plays in one game.
HOME RUN TRACKER
-The Pack has hit 26 home runs this season, and has belted at least one in seven of its last nine games.
-Balzer and Molly Hutchison each hit solo home runs in Wednesday's game with Liberty. Hutchison now holds a team-best six on the season and Balzer ranks second on the team with Tyler Ross as they hold five apiece.

Friday will mark the 12th game this season that NC State will face a team that is ranked or receiving votes in the top 25 of the national polls. Its last ranked opponent was conference rival UNC-Chapel Hill, as the two teams met for a three-game series last weekend at Anderson Softball Stadium. The Pack held off a sweep with an 8-7 win on Sunday, as the Tar Heels were listed at No. 25 in the ESPN.com/USA Softball poll and received 23 votes in the USA Today/NFCA Coaches poll to sit at 28th last week.

-The Volunteers swept Liberty on Tuesday in a doubleheader at home in its last time out, and hold a 14-1 record at the Sherri Parker Lee Stadium this season.
-Tennessee holds a .335 batting average with 6.90 runs per game this season. Meghan Gregg leads the team at the plate with a .446 clip along with 41 hits, 12 doubles and eight home runs. Megan Geer lists second on the team with a .400 average and 28 hits.

Only one clear plastic bag no larger than 12 inches by 6 inches by 12 inches or a one-gallon, clear, resealable plastic storage bag per person will be permitted. Fans will also be allowed a small clutch purse not to exceed 4.5 inches by 6.5 inches.
