
Men’s Tennis Hosts No. 2 Virginia, Travels to Clemson

RALEIGH, N.C. – The NC State men's tennis team will face two ACC opponents this weekend, as it welcomes No. 2 Virginia to the J.W. Isenhour Tennis Center Friday at 4 p.m. and travels to Clemson Sunday at 1 p.m.
NC State enters the weekend with a 9-9 (0-3 ACC) record, and is coming off two narrow losses to ACC opposition.
Scouting UVA:
Virginia enters the match with a 15-0 (2-0 ACC) record. The Cavaliers claimed the ITA National Team Indoor Title earlier this year. They are coming off a 6-1 victory over Notre Dame and have only dropped one match point in the last 10 matches.
Virginia has three singles players ranked in the ITA singles poll. No. 6 Thai-Son Kwiatkowski leads the way, while Collin Altamirano is ranked 64th and JC Aragone rounds out the rankings at No. 104. In doubles play, the Cavaliers have three ranked duos. No. 25 Carl Söderlund and Luca Corinteli lead the team with a 4-1 record from the No. 1 doubles spot. Corinteli and Kwiatkowski are ranked 34th with a 2-1 record from tournament play this fall. Corinteli and Henrik Wiersholm round out the rankings at No. 49 with a 5-0 record this spring season.

Clemson enters the weekend with an 8-7 (1-2 ACC) record. The Tigers opened the year with seven-straight wins, but have struggled down the stretch, dropping five-straight matches.
Alex Favrot plays at No. 1 singles with a 6-6 record, while Daffra Sanon leads the team with 12 victories.
Pack in the Polls:
Nick Horton and Alexis Galarneau are ranked 63rd in the ITA poll and hold a 10-7 record. Horton leads the team in singles play at No. 87 in the rankings, while Galarneau is ranked 92nd. Galarneau and Georgiy Malyshev lead the team with 18 singles wins each.
Last Time Out:
NC State dropped a 5-2 match to Duke Wednesday afternoon. The team fell behind 3-0 and attempted a late rally. The Pack came within a point of tying the match, but eventually fell. Horton picked up a ranked win, taking down No. 95 Catalin Mataes on court one for his 16th win of the season.
