A native of Raleigh, Rhoades played high school golf at Needham Broughton High School. He helped his high school teams win two 4A State Championships (2012 and 2014) and four 4A Mideast Regional Championships. Selected to the 2015 News & Observer All-Metro Boys' Golf Team, Rhoades was also a two-time NCHSAA All-State selection (2012 and 2015), a two-time NCHSAA 4A Mideast All-Regional Team selection (2013 and 2014), and a four-time NCHSAA Scholar Athlete.
