SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The NC State track and field team opened the ACC Indoor Championships Thursday at the Loftus Center. After a successful opening day, the men are currently fifth with eight points and the women sit in 10th with five points.

Multis:
Grant Rivers kicked off the meet with a PR in the 60m, running 7.44 for 732 points. He added a season-best mark of 21'1.50" in the long jump for 10th place and 684 points and took eighth in the shot put with a toss of 39'8.75" for 613 points. Rivers finished on a strong note, taking second in the high jump after clearing 6'5.00" for 767 points. After four events, Rivers is currently ninth with 2,796 points. Rivers will conclude the event tomorrow with the 60m hurdles, pole vault and 1,000m.

Throws:
Joshua Davis earned the team's first points of the meet, taking third in the men's weight throw with a toss of 69'0.50". It marks the second-straight year Davis has won bronze and earned First Team All-ACC honors in the event. His finish scored six points for the team. Davis is currently set to continue his season at the NCAA Indoor Championships. His season-best throw of 71'7.25" is currently ranked 11th in the NCAA. The top-16 marks will at the end of all completions on Sunday will advance to the NCAA Championships.

In the women's event, Lauren Evans scored points for the Pack with a seventh-place finish. Evans advanced to the final heat with her second throw that traveled 58'5.75". The mark held on for seventh the rest of the competition. She'll be back in action Saturday with the shot put.Â

DMR:
The women's DMR team of Elly Henes, Tiana Patillo, Bethany Neeley and Ryen Frazier opened action on the track with a sixth-place finish in the DMR. The group earned a season high in the event for NC State with a time of 11:20.08, which is also good for the fourth-fastest time in school history. The Pack's finish added three points to the team total.

The men took seventh in the event, as Tanis Baldwin, Junpai Dowdy, Abdur-Rahmaan Kelly and Sebastian Hanson recorded a time of 9:45.32 and scored two points for the men's team. The time ranks sixth in school history.
