CHICAGO – Tziarra King of the NC State women's soccer team has once again been identified as one of the top emerging prospects in US Soccer, and has been selected to train at the United States Under-23 Women's National Team camp in Orlando, Fla., that runs through Dec. 4.
This is the third time King has been called up this year, as she was invited to the U-23 training camp in Portland, Ore., in March and the U-19 camp in Carson, Calif., in June. The camp consists of 22 college players and four NWSL players.
"Like all the players in our program, Zee continues to develop her game and get better," said head coach Tim Santoro. "Besides being as good as any attacker in the ACC this year, she became a better defensive forward which will only compliment her game more for the next level. She deserves to be going into her third National Team camp of the year."
The sophomore from Sicklerville, N.J., led the team this season with 17 goals and 40 points, which rank fourth and fifth, respectively, among the NCAA. She also ranks sixth in the program's all-time record book for most goals in a single season and seventh for most points in a single season.
In postseason play she was named to the All-ACC First Team, ACC All-Tournament Team and United Soccer Coaches All-East Region First Team.
She played a vital role in the team's third-place finish in the ACC regular season standings and first ACC semifinal appearance since 1995. King also contributed to the program's first back-to-back ACC Championship berths since 2003-'04 and NCAA Tournament appearances since 1995-'96.
