#PackXC Women Claim NCAA Southeast Regional Crown; Men Place Fourth

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. — The NC State women's cross country team captured its second-straight NCAA Southeast Regional Championship title Friday morning at the Panorama Farms Cross Country Course. On the men's side, NC State placed fourth as a team.
With the Regional win, the Wolfpack women automatically qualify for their 31st NCAA Nationals appearance, more than any other Division I program. The men's team will await its fate for an at-large bid to the national meet, as the field will be announced Saturday, Nov. 11 at 3 p.m.

Women's Race Recap:
No. 5 NC State edged No. 12 Furman by 15 points, posting a score of 68 at the regional meet. The Pack was trailing the Paladins at the 3K split, but rallied over the last half of the course for the win.
Redshirt-freshman Dominique Clairmonte was the Pack's top finisher, placing 5th individually with a mark of 20:23.3. Elly Henes was right behind Clairmonte to finish 6th in 20:24.9.
Beth Taye crossed the line next for the Wolfpack with an 8th-place outing, posting a time of 20:30.5. Rachel Koon (16th, 20:47.3) and Ryen Frazier (33rd, 21:22.3) completed the top five for NC State.
Men's Race Recap:
The Pack finished fourth as a team at the regional meet with a total of 166 points. No. 7 Furman claimed the regional title, while Virginia Tech and Virginia took second and third, respectively.
Freshman Ian Shanklin led the Pack with a 19th-place finish, completing the course in 29:38.4 in his collegiate 10K debut. Aubrey Myjer was the next Pack runner across as he placed 29th with a time of 29:59.7.
Patrick Sheehan was NC State's third man, finishing 31st at the meet with a mark of 30:05.6. Joe Bistritz ran a time of 30:13.4 in his first college 10K to place 33rd, while Ben Barrett crossed the line 55th to round out the Wolfpack top five.
All-Region Honorees:
Following the meet, All-Region awards were presented to the top-25 individual finishers in both races. On the women's side, NC State athletes Elly Henes (6th) and Rachel Koon (16th) repeated as All-Region honorees, while Dominique Clairmonte (5th) and Beth Taye (8th) claimed their first career All-Region awards.
True freshman Ian Shanklin took home All-Region honors for the Wolfpack men with his 19th-place performance.
